San Antonio is practically a playground for anyone who loves the great outdoors. It's packed with parks and trails that make staying active as easy (and cheap).
Eisenhower Park is the biggest around here. If you’re up for a bit of adventure, it also has some hiking trails that’ll give your legs a proper workout. Just a heads up, though—it’s the place to be on weekends and holidays, so it gets pretty packed.
Missed your shot at Eisenhower? No sweat. Back in 2016, San Antonio pledged to keep the green in "green spaces," promising to add over 200 acres of parkland to its already impressive collection. So, there's always a patch of nature waiting for you somewhere in the city.
1. The River Walk
The #1 attraction in all of San Antonio, and for good reason. By day there’s arts & culture, unique shops, restaurants, tours, and more. But by night it turns into a vibrant nightlife scene and has entertaining attractions you’re not going to want to miss.
2. San Antonio Missions National Park
Did you know San Antonio is home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site? Yep, the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park isn't just any park, it's a blast from the past, preserving four Spanish missions from the 1700s.
These missions were originally set up to convert Native Americans to Catholicism, and today, they offer a peek into the lives of Spanish colonialist's and Native Americans in the Southwest.
This place is a history buff’s dream, boasting the largest collection of Spanish Colonial architecture in the U.S.—think old churches, ancient farmlands, historic homes, and even old-school water systems. It’s like stepping into a time machine.
